JOB OPENINGS

Position #1:  Part-Time Secretary

  • Duties include but not limited to: Training with district secretary to learn the duties of district bookkeeper.  Will learn the responsibilities of payroll, budget, and state reports along with other duties as assigned by superintendent.   
  • Approximately 5 hours per day with the expectation that this will become a full time position for successful candidate in July 2020.     
Position #2: Part-Time Aide
  • Duties include but not limited to: Providing assistance for student in a one-on-one setting as well as small group.  Recess and lunch supervision.  Other duties as assigned by administration.  
  • Approximately 5 hours per day on regular school days of student attendance.  
The expected start date will be Monday, August 12th.

JH Baseball / JH Softball Meeting – July 23rd

Any boy or girl wanting to play Junior High Baseball or Softball should attend a parent/coach/player meeting on Tuesday, July 23rd at 6pm at the Annawan Community Center.

  Dismissal time is 1:50PM with busses leaving at 2:00PM.
  This time schedule will run through August 23, 2019.

Junior High Athletics and Annawan Athletic Boosters will have information available at registration regarding their sponsored sports activities.

The School Calendar, Student/ Athletic Handbook and any additional information is also available on the school district website and will be updated during the year when it becomes available.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The 2019-2020 School Year will soon begin. Information regarding dates, times, fees and health requirements for student registration are as follows.

Parents of  K-8 will register in the Grade School Office and 9-12 will register in the High School Office.

REGISTRATION DATES & TIMES

  • Monday, July 29th    —  12:00PM- 3:00PM
  • Tuesday, July 30th —  11:00AM- 7:00PM
  • Wednesday, July 31st   —  7:00AM- 12:00PM

REGISTRATION FEES  

  • ALL Students K-12th$80.00
  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade Fee
    • Additional $52.50 for afternoon milk
    • Total Fee $132.50.
  • 6th – 12th Grades Technology Fee
    • $50.00 if using the school district’s Chromebook
    • $20.00 if using your own Chromebook / Laptop
  • Student Lunch – $2.60 / Milk – $0.30
    • Applications for free and reduced meals will be available in the grade school office.
  • Driver’s Ed Fee– $100.00
  • Textbook, library or technology fines – incurred from the previous year.

ATHLETIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Parents of students participating in any sport must sign an insurance waiver
  • Parents/Athletes must receive a copy of the Student/Athletic handbook
  • Students participating in any sport must have a physical on file or they will not be able to begin practice.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

  • State regulations make it necessary for all pupils to comply with certain health requirements before registration can be completed.  Please refer to the enclosed pages for these requirements.Bus Route information will be available in both offices at registration.

Special Board Meeting – Agenda Available

There will be a special board meeting this is coming Friday, July 12, 2019, to discuss possible action on a solar panels project for the Annawan School District.

Booster’s Volleyball and Football Camps – Big Success!!

The Annawan Booster’s Club hosted a Volleyball and Football camp this past Sunday, June 23, for students entering kindergarten up to 5th grade. The weather held off, and both camps had a great number of participants and volunteers.

Thanks to all who attended and helped make this such a BIG SUCCESS!!

Summer Music Camps – Geneseo

Musical Memories in Geneseo is offering Summer Music Camps ages 4 and up. Registrations for the different camps is through the Geneseo Community Center, but you do not need to be a member to register. They also offer lessons for a variety of instruments. Annawan Grade School 4th Quarter – BUG Awards

Annawan Kiwanis Members presented BUG (Bringing Up Grades) Awards to fourth and fifth graders May 24th at the Annawan Grade School. Students must raise a grade (example: C to a B) while maintaining the rest.

Students who received awards were (front row from left) fourth graders Tyra Church, Avery Frank, Danny Heston, Jackson Nanninga, Gia Samuels, Drew Sherbeyn and Alexis Wilson. In the back row are Kiwanis member Albert Hulting, fifth grader Ethan DeMay, Kiwanis members Dick VanKerrebroeck and Wayne Brau who presented the awards. Missing from the photo is fourth grader Cole Goodley.

The students are taught by Lisa Spivey and Dawn Heitzler.

Annawan Junior High School Presents – Citizenship Award

Mr. Wayne Brau, Principal of the Annawan Grade School presented the Citizenship Award to:

The award was presented to Maya, a 7th Grader at Annawan Junior High School, at an award ceremony on May 23nd. The award is presented to an Annawan 6th or 7th grader who presents qualities of Fairness, Responsibility, Citizenship, Trustworthiness, Caring and Respectfulness.

  • Illinois Elementary School Association Scholar Attitude Award – This award is presented by the IESA and sponsored by State Farm Insurance, is for excellence in academics and for outstanding participation in school and community activities.   The student must have a minimum of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and participate in an IESA activity each year.  One student may be selected from each IESA school to compete at the state level. —- This student was also selected to represent Division B. —- Only 15 students are selected state wide.  This year’s recipient is:

  • DAR Award – Daughters of the American Revolution – The Geneseo Chapter, DAR Youth Awards held on February 3, 2019 honored two of our students.  Students selected had to write an essay demonstrating honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.

Staff of the Month Winner

Congratulations to this month’s Staff of the Month Winner,
Mrs. Tammy Celus! 

Mrs. Celus was nominated six times this month and the winning form was submitted by Mrs. Lynn VanHyfte stating that “Mrs. Celus is a well appreciate staff member for what she does as a counselor, coach, and mentor….and an asset to all at Annawan Schools.”  Mrs. Celus will be receiving a $50 gift card to a business in the Annawan School District.

This month’s winner of the “Scoop at the Coop” is Mrs. Susan Lanxon.  She will be receiving a free scoop of ice cream at Paxton’s Corner Coop.
